Alimah Sobia Hasan

Alimah Sobia Hasan was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan and received her B.Sc. with Honors in Economics and Social Sciences from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Thereafter, she taught Islamic Studies and worked as a research assistant, before moving to the US where she undertook workshops on teacher training and educational leadership at the Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning.

During the course of studies, she was inspired to seek sacred knowledge which took her to attend Mahad al-Khalil, one of Pakistan’s most renowned Islamic institutes. There she completed a four-year, formal study in Qur’an, Hadith, Arabic Grammar & Linguistics, Islamic Law & Legal Theory and Beliefs & Creed. She studied the authentic ahadith collection of the Sihah Sittah under eminent Islamic scholars, including the late Maulana Yahya Madani (rah). In 2009, she was formally awarded the ‘alimiyyah degree certifying her to teach the disciplines of Islamic learning.

Alimah Sobia has been teaching classes in various Islamic disciplines for almost a decade. She has delivered lectures and conducted seminars on Islam at educational institutions, conferences and masajid across the US, Canada and Pakistan. Notable among the universities where she has been invited as a guest speaker include McGill University, Concordia University, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Wayne State and University of Notre Dame in North America, and Aga Khan University (AKUH), LUMS, IBA, DOW and CBM in Pakistan. Moreover, she has tutored and guided hundreds of women on the path of drawing closer to Allah SWT.

Alimah Sobia and her husband have also founded Maryam Institute, an educational institute for women dedicated to offering free, online and in-person authentic Islamic education. Based on her dual background in research and Islam, and her experience as a community mentor, she has designed several short courses offering Islamic knowledge on contemporary and lifestyle issues pertinent to women, and taught them to a wide audience at different venues. Her latest endeavors include her popular “Being Productive” training course on effective self-management in Islam, and “Love to Stay” workshop on healthy, romantic and meaningful marriage.

Currently based in Karachi, she divides her time between the US and Pakistan, and regularly travels with her husband to deliver interactive and uplifting talks to women from all walks of life.

Alimah Maria Mohsin

Ustadha Maria Mohsin was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan and received her Bachelors in Business Management and Accounting from IBA (Instiitue of Business Administration). After completing her education, she pursued an intensive full-time study of Dars-e-Nizami under traditional scholars, receiving the Alimiyya degree in 2010. Ustadha Maria has been teaching the different disciplines of Islamic learning for the past 4 years and also gives talks on drawing closer to Allah swt.  She has extensive teaching and management experience, having also taught at renowned schools like the Beacon House School System. She currently lives in Islamabad with her husband and 4 beautiful children.

Alimah Umme Hanbal

Alimah Umme Hanbal began her pursuit of Classical Islamic Learning in 2011. She studied Quran, Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, and Arabic under traditional scholars for four years, thereby completing the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum and receiving the Alimiyyah degree by Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabiyyah Al-Pakistan. Since then, she has been involved in teaching and Daw’ah activities in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Kohat. Moreover, she delivers lectures for female students and staff members at different colleges and universities in Rawalpindi and Peshawar. Ustadah also has a BIT (Hons) in Networking and an MBA in Human Resource Management from IQRA University Peshawar. She has close to 4 years of professional experience as a Consultant, Program Coordinator, Junior Project Manager and Content Writer. She has been teaching Hadith, Islamic Law and Islamic Inheritance at Maryam Institute for the past two years.

Alimah Sakina Khan

Alimah Sakina Khan was born and raised in Chicago. She attended the College of Dupage and received an Associates in Arts. She pursued her study of the traditional Islamic sciences from Darul Uloom Chicago and received the Alimiyyah Degree in 2012. She currently teaches ‘aqidah and advanced level fiqh courses at Maryam Institute. 

Ustadha Hajra Tufail

Ustadha Hajra Tufail was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. She has completed the rigorous six year ‘Alimah Degree program from Jamia Ayesha Siddiqua in Karachi which is renowned for its emphasis on Arabic Grammar and Language. Ustadha Hajra has been teaching the different disciplines of Islamic learning at different institutions for the past few years. She currently lives in Toronto, Canada and is also studying psychology alongside her teaching responsibilities.

Ustadha Sana Khan

Ustadha Sana Khan completed her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education at Oakland University and has enjoyed teaching kindergarten through middle school for the past few years. She is pursuing her study of the traditional Islamic sciences at Maryam Institute is currently in the third year of the Alimah Program. She has also pursued an intensive study of the Arabic language with the Shariah Program.

Sana thoroughly enjoys learning new things and working with other people. She has also worked with underprivileged kids in Detroit and taught at Islamic Summer camps for girls in Rochester Hills. She has spent a considerable amount of time volunteering with masajid and non-profit organizations around Washington and Michigan and regularly conducts halaqahs on rectifying the heart and drawing close to Allah swt. She loves children, animals and teaching math. She currently lives in Rochester Hills, Michigan with her husband and family.
