A weekend maktab designed to help children learn the fundamentals of Deen: Aqidah, Tafseer, Fiqh, Seerah, and Adab in a fun and interactive way. Our goal is to nurture a love for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, build strong character, and develop a positive Islamic identity. We aim to instill Islamic values that guide them throughout their lives and inspire them to practice their faith with confidence and sincerity.

Instructor Profile: Alimah Ruksana Nazu

Alimah Ruksana currently lives in Virginia with her family. She completed the Alimiyyah Degree Program with Maryam Institute and also studied at Georgia State University. Alimah Ruksana is a homeschooling mother of three children and has extensive experience in working with young girls in her community in Virginia. She leads all children’s programs at Maryam Institute.

Modules & Course Outline

A journey through selected short Surahs, exploring their meanings, lessons, and relevance in our daily lives. Children will learn to connect with the Qur’an, appreciate its beauty, and understand how its guidance shapes a believer’s character.

– Tafsir of Surah Kahf
– Tafsir of Ayatul Kursi and the Four Quls

3. Open Call to Islam
4. Persecution faced by Muslims
5. Migration to Abyssania
6. The Boycott
7. Year of Sadness
8. Isra wal Mi’raj
9. Pledge of Aqabah
10. Hijrah

– Revision: Eating, Drinking, Sleeping & Using the Bathroom
– Greeting Others with a Smile and Salam
– Entering a House with Blessings
– Sneezing & Yawning – What to Say and Do
– Showing Respect to the Qur’an
– Travelling with the Sunnah in Mind
– Manners in the Masjid
– Dressing Modestly & Neatly
– Being the Best Guest and the Kindest Host
– Sitting in a Gathering with Good Manners

– Cleanliness and purity for salah (najasah, wudu, ghusl, tayammum, khuffayn)
– Salah Rules: Wajib, Sunnah, Nullifiers, Prohibited Times
– Special prayers: Witr, Mareedh, Musafir
-Fiqh of Fasting, Taraweeh and Eid Salah

A foundation in the core beliefs of Islam, explained in a way children can understand. They will learn about Allah’s Oneness, His attributes, the prophets, the hereafter, and what it means to be a Muslim, strengthening their faith from the inside out.
