This course explores how to build a loving, lasting and resilient marriage by grounding your relationship in the Qur’an, Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, and a clear understanding of the human heart. We will learn how to communicate with wisdom, navigate conflict and set healthy boundaries with family. Whether you’re preparing for marriage, newly married, or looking to revive an existing relationship, this course will equip you with practical tools and Prophetic guidance to turn your home into a place of mercy, respect and lasting companionship.

Session 1: Spiritual Foundations & Choosing the Right Spouse

A strong and lasting marriage is built upon essential spiritual principles. This session delves into these foundational concepts, offering participants clear guidance on the spiritual values and mindsets that should underpin any marital relationship. Attention is given to the process of choosing a spouse, emphasizing the importance of careful consideration based on the guidelines provided in the Qur’an and Sunnah. Participants will explore how these teachings can help ensure compatibility, shared values, and mutual respect from the very beginning of the marital journey.

Session 2: Prophetic Principles for a Healthy Marriage

In this session, participants will learn about the teachings and guidance of our beloved Prophet saw that encourage the development of a healthy and thriving marriage. The session covers practical steps and spiritual insights derived from Prophetic traditions, focusing on ways to nurture respect, cultivate love, and build mutual support between spouses. These principles offer both spiritual and practical advice for strengthening the relationship.

Session 3: Conflict Resolution & Boundaries

This session provides effective strategies for resolving conflicts and establishing healthy boundaries within marriage. Participants will examine methods for open communication, empathetic understanding, and mutual respect. The session also addresses specific areas of potential conflict, such as disagreements in managing finances, differences in parenting perspectives, and navigating boundaries with in-laws. By learning these approaches, couples can better navigate disagreements and maintain harmony in their relationship.

Session 4: Contemporary Challenges & Growing Together

Modern society presents couples with a variety of unique challenges. In this final session, participants will discuss these contemporary issues and explore ways to grow together through both difficulties and successes. The session highlights the significance of forgiveness, adaptability, and the pursuit of shared goals. It also underscores the importance of ongoing personal and spiritual development as essential elements for strengthening the marital bond and fostering a resilient partnership.

Instructor Profile

Alimah Sobia Hasan is the Co-Founder and Director of Maryam Institute, an international U.S.-based nonprofit organization committed to imparting Islamic education globally. She obtained her Alimiyyah Degree from Wifaq al-Madaris Pakistan and has been teaching and mentoring students for the past 20 years. Her students include working professionals, homemakers, and college students from various countries around the world.

 

In addition to her religious education, she holds a BSc (Honors) in Economics and Social Sciences from LUMS and has undertaken training in Educational Leadership at the Kaneb Centre for Teaching & Learning in the USA. Combining her expertise in research and Islamic studies with her role as a community mentor, Alimah Sobia has designed and delivered a range of courses on contemporary and lifestyle issues relevant to women.

 

She has conducted marriage-related courses and seminars across multiple countries and community settings, focusing on building spiritually grounded, emotionally healthy marriages rooted in Qur’an and Sunnah. Over the years, she has also provided spiritual counselling to countless women, supporting them through marital challenges, emotional struggles, and personal growth with compassion, wisdom, and practical guidance.
