Foundations Program for Women

A 2-Year Online Course in Islamic Studies

The Foundations Program for Women at Maryam Institute is a comprehensive two-year online course designed for women seeking a structured and meaningful journey into the core sciences of Islam. The program aims to cultivate a deeper connection with Allah ﷻ by enabling students to engage directly with the primary sources of the Islamic tradition: the Qur’an, the Prophetic Sunnah, and the scholarly heritage of Islam.

Through a carefully designed curriculum, students will study the complete Tafsir of the Qur’an, allowing them to understand the meanings, themes, and guidance of the Qur’an in a systematic and accessible manner. Alongside this, students will explore selected Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, gaining insight into the Prophetic teachings that shape the moral, spiritual, and practical dimensions of a Muslim’s life.

The program also introduces students to the fundamentals of Islamic Law (Fiqh), providing clarity on essential acts of worship, daily practices, and ethical conduct in accordance with the rich tradition of classical Islamic scholarship. In addition, students will study the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, reflecting on the life, character, and leadership of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and drawing timeless lessons relevant to contemporary life.

Designed especially for women balancing family, professional, or academic commitments, this program offers accessible evening classes in a structured yet supportive learning environment. Students will benefit from qualified instructors, a spiritually uplifting atmosphere, and a community of learners dedicated to seeking sacred knowledge.

By the end of the two years, students will have developed:

• A comprehensive understanding of the message and themes of the Qur’an
• A stronger connection to the teachings and character of the Prophet ﷺ
• Foundational knowledge of Islamic law and practice
• A deeper appreciation of the Islamic scholarly tradition
• Greater confidence in living and sharing Islamic values in daily life

This program serves as an ideal foundation for women seeking to strengthen their relationship with the Qur’an and deepen their understanding of Islam, while also providing a stepping stone for those who wish to pursue further studies in the Islamic sciences.
