Who Should Enroll

This course is not merely an academic study of Surah al-Qalam—it is a deeply reflective and transformative journey into the inner world of the الإنسان. It invites the student to move beyond the surface meanings of the text and engage with the Qur’an as it was meant to be engaged: as a guide for purification, a معيار for truth, and a mirror for the state of one’s own heart.

Through a careful and nuanced exploration of Surah al-Qalam, students will be guided to confront the realities of the nafs—its غرور, its حبّ للدنيا, its resistance to truth, and its subtle forms of فساد that often go unnoticed. The course draws attention to the اخلاق condemned and praised in the Surah, allowing each participant to reflect: Where do I stand? Which traits have I overlooked within myself? And what is Allah calling me to become?

At its core, this journey is about تَزْكِيَة—true inner purification. Students will learn to identify spiritual diseases not as abstract concepts, but as lived realities within their own thoughts, reactions, and relationships. The Qur’anic narratives and warnings in Surah al-Qalam will be unpacked not just for their historical context, but for their immediate relevance in our modern lives—where arrogance, heedlessness, حبّ الجاه, and moral compromise continue to shape our decisions.

The course also places a strong emphasis on the Prophetic model of character. Through the lens of Surah al-Qalam—particularly the عظیم اخلاق of the Prophet ﷺ—students will be inspired to refine their own conduct, embodying patience, restraint, humility, and sincerity in both private and public life. This is not a passive learning experience, but an active process of self-accountability (محاسبة), where knowledge becomes a means of transformation.

By the end of this course, Surah al-Qalam will no longer remain a distant text. It will become deeply personal. A mirror in which each student sees their heart clearly—its strengths, its ضعف, its contradictions—and is equipped with the tools and spiritual insights needed to begin the journey of sincere إصلاح.

This course is for those who are ready to be honest with themselves, to confront what lies within, and to walk the path of change with the guidance of the Qur’an.
