Course Description
Tahfeez Surah Yaseen is a guided memorization course centered on the surah known as the Heart of the Quran. With structured lessons students’ progress with steady pacing and guided support, developing accurate and fluent recitation while strengthening tajweed and makharij.
Course Outline:
Duration: 6 Weeks
Frequency: 2 Sessions per Week
Week 1- Memorization Ayahs: 1–20
- Establishing correct makharij
- Smooth flow and familiarization with rhythm
Week 2- Memorization Ayahs: 21–40
- Strengthening connection between ayahs
- Pronunciation accuracy
- Beginning light independent practice
Week 3- Memorization Ayahs: 41–60
- Fluency in longer passages
- Internalizing pauses and stops
- Confidence-building repetition
Week 4- Memorization Ayahs: 61–80
- Developing flow through transitions
- Better retention through paired recitation
- Continued correction of makharij
Week 5- Memorization Ayahs: 81–End
- Completing memorization
- Consistent recap of first half
- Reinforcing retention and pacing
Week 6- Full Surah Revision:
- Final oral assessment
In-Class Structure
- Instructor recitation
- Individual tajweed correction
Homework Expectations
- Complete memorization of the given ayahs each week
- Listening to audio recitation for reinforcement
- Daily guided revision.
Alimah Maria Khan has dedicated over two decades to teaching Qur’an and Arabic across the Middle East and Canada. She previously served as the principal of a Tahfīz madrassah in the Middle East and holds ijāzah in tajwīd, with sanad in Matan al-Jazariyyah as well as sanad in Matan al-Ājrūmiyyah in Arabic grammar.
Alongside her Islamic studies, Alimah Maria has trained in School Management and Islamic Counselling, and is certified in Early Childhood Care, Life Coaching, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
She completed the ʿAlimiyyah Degree with Maryam Institute, where she is now a core member of the administrative team. She currently heads the Tajwīd Department at Maryam Institute and teaches advanced courses in Fiqh and Hadith, guiding students with depth, clarity, and a holistic approach to sacred learning.
